My bird shaped stoneware spoon rest is beautiful and functional. The glaze is a mossy, olive green with mottled shades of blue speckled dots and undertones of harvest gold yellow. This soaring bird shape makes the perfect companion to rest your morning coffee or tea spoons. The speckled glaze pattern is uniquely random and reminds me of a turtle shell coloring. The bird shape was hand drawn by me, then hand-cut and hand-carved into the longhorn white clay.

Approximate size: 6.75" x 8" x .25" thick

Artist Process:
I take raw clay and shape and carve it intuitively by hand. Once the clay is bone dry, I fire to bisque in my small home studio kiln. Bisque firing takes about 13 hours. Once the bisque firing is complete, the final glaze is hand painted, allowed to dry, and then fired again in the final stage (another 8-10 hours).

Each piece is 100% unique. The photo shows the actual piece you will receive.

In order to prolong the durability, I recommend hand washing with mild detergent. Dishwasher use is not recommended and do not microwave. The glaze is food safe. Ceramics should be treated with care, as it can break, chip, or crack if dropped.

In order to protect your substrate and to help keep the piece from getting damaged, I have applied a soft, black foam base.
